Albin John’s New Practical Cornet/Trumpet Method for Beginners is the first of a collection of rare books by the late author, which include this Grand Method, and two progressive books on the art of transposition.
In his forward, John writes that “this method is intended for both beginners and teachers, so that the teacher is not compelled to write out certain exercises for certain students, who wish to learn the instrument, but have the talent to do so. With the book, it is possible for anyone to learn.”
This method takes you from the very beginning, then quickly through to the intermediate level where you will cover solos, syncopation, intervals, tone studies, 6 duets, theme and variation solos, a full section on the art of phrasing, ornaments, original contest pieces, and multiple tonguing.
There are few methods quite as complete as this one, and I am thrilled to have it in the collection. Check out the samples to the left, then grab an immediate PDF download above.
