Henry Lavine wrote two extensive collections of Dixieland music, this one, titled Modern Dixieland Combo, and another known as Modern Dixieland Style. In this COMBO series once again, Levine taps his vast knowledge of this unique jazz style to provide the Dixieland devotee with considerable performance pleasure.
Henry Levine, who arranged the selections in this edition, has long been regarded as one of the nation’s top exponents of Dixieland Jazz. Through the years, this famed trumpet star has played a leading part in acquainting the public with the vitality of this inimitable jazz style and he is to a great extent responsible for much of Dixieland’s perennial popularity.
Contrary to his Style series, this two book collection is all about performance material. Each book has two parts, one for the Trumpet, Clarinet, & Trombone, with the other part dedicated to the rhythm section (guitar, piano, & bass). Below you can find the song listing for each book. To the left you can see samples, and above you can choose to buy each book separately, or get them both for 30% off the retail price.
