These 12 Studies for Bb Trumpet, Flugelhorn, or Cornet were originally written by Giovanni Brizzi, and were edited and adapted by Wilhelm Wendt, the former principal trumpet of the Vienna Philharmonic. You can read in the new translation of the text by Timothy Quinlan that “these studies have been adapted to give any student who has completed the first and second volumes of the Arban, the opportunity to practically test his acquired knowledge. These give him the opportunity to deepen his musical and technical skills.”
“Compared to the Arban Method, where emphasis is placed on a specific technique (staccato, articulation, slurs, ornaments, etc.) in the exercises therein, these studies place all of these techniques in varied abundance simultaneously, thus preparing for the advanced level of virtuoso and orchestral musician.”
These studies can be found, also, in Wendt’s edition of Arban’s Complete Method, which can be found right here.
