Rich jumps into the act with his turn with Chopin’s Grand Polonaise, his arrangement highlights the keyboard with minimal scoring for trumpet. The album also includes three Gershwin works — including Promenade, which is also known as Walking the Dog. It is a musical number written in 1937 by George Gershwin for the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers film Shall We Dance. In the film, the music accompanies a sequence of Astaire walking a dog onboard a luxury liner. There are also works by Ravel, Prokofiev, Scriabin and Schumann.
