Hawkes & Son, better know to us today as Boosey & Hawkes, were in the business of manufacturing and distributing trumpets. As an equipment manufacturer, they knew that a wealth of wonderful musical material was key to keep people playing and enjoying their new horns. That is why they developed the simplicity tutor series. They made one for every instrument they made and they were meant to serve as a beginner method on the instrument.
This book teaches a basic overview of the notes and fingers, how to read in the treble clef, scales, and then followed by simple tunes and airs similar in style to the Art of Phrasing from the Arban Method. Many of you may have played from this book as kids, or have seen it on shelves in music rooms from times past. It is a great little book and I am proud to have it in our collection at qPress.
