From the foreword by August Schaefer: The Kreuzer Etudes, originally written for the violin, are most valuable to the violinist. They are considered a staple of the string repertoire, and considered a necessity to the player desirous of mastering the technical problems bound to appear in the better works and compositions. The idea was conceived that the ten selected Kreutzer Etudes, if adapted for the cornet or trumpet, would fill a long felt want, making these studies as important to the cornetist as they are to the violinist.
These Etudes had been presented with confidence in their practicality and great value to the wide awake cornetist or trumpeter. It is essential that the modern cornetist be capable of mastering intricate technical passages, develop speed, phrasing and flexible style or execution. These studies, therefore are presented as excellent daily practice material for the advanced student, teacher or the professional.
