These exercises have been written to supply a want felt by the author in the course of his long experience as a teacher. Convinced that this want is not only felt by a minority, but that there is a widespread demand for a work containing practical exercises to meet all modern requirements, he has felt emboldened to place his work before the public.
Astonishing success will be achieved, if the different ways suggested for practising are observed. This unpretentious little work is intended to be a manual for teachers and to provide pupils with exercises that are easily grasped; it will also be of great help to amateurs.
Although many kinds of rhythm, different qualities of tone and last but not least, articulation, have been considered individual criticism still remains possible. Special attention should be paid to all incidental remarks, marks of expression, and also to suggestions for transposing, after the original key has been thoroughly mastered.
Though they are called “Little Studies” they are not “easy” studies. They are intermediate to advanced and will be challenging and rewarding for all trumpeters.
