Written for the great Scottish cornet virtuoso Matthew Arbuckle, The Arbucklenian Polka is a fantastic piece full of character and excitement. During the Crimean War, Arbuckle became leader of the 24th Regiment band of the Massachusetts volunteers and it was said of him, “When Arbuckle placed the cornet to his lips… there was nothing doing within the sound of his notes but listening.”
We have included sample pages from the solo parts (written out for trumpet in Bb and in C) and the score, as well as a sample recording below. Take a look at those samples and then click above for an immediate PDF download. The download contains a single PDF file with the solo parts, ensemble parts, and score, which has been formatted for easy printing.
