I am excited to announce this new Bodet translation! With this huge (nearly 100 page) translation of Bodet’s Embouchure Technique: 250 Progressive Exercises for the Trumpet, Cornet, Bugle, & all Treble Clef Brass, his entire collection is now back in circulation in English for the first time ever.
Bodet’s plan was to write a book about each aspect of playing. Notably, Finger Technique, Daily Exercises (warm-ups), and Embouchure Technique. This book is by far the longest and most involved. It includes 250 sets of exercises. Each number includes a series of Soft Entrances, Loud Entrances, Slurs, and Long Tones. The player is meant to do one number each day, with each new day being progressively more difficult. Over the course of 12 months, Bodet guarantees that you will possess not only the complete range of his instrument, but above all else, a solid supple embouchure, beautiful tone, and impeccable intonation.
I was thrilled to work with Kelsey Anderson on this translation as the editor, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations in scope and depth. For any serious player or teacher, this book demands a prominent place on your shelf.
Above you can purchase this book in English or in French, and to the left you can see samples from the beginning, middle, and end of the book to see how far you will go in one short year of study. Check out the samples, then grab an immediate PDF download above.
