Born in Vienna in 1902, Karl Hermann Pilss experienced a musical upbringing. His father was a horn player in a local worker’s band and other family members participated in both amateur and professional musical activities. It has been established that Karl Pilss was deeply vested in the late Romantic styles characterized by Schmidt and Strauss. This style is perfectly exemplified in his Sonata and his Concerto for trumpet, not to mention his works for brass quintet and larger brass ensemble.
This is the first known complete collection of his works for trumpet and brass ensemble, and we are happy to offer it here for a limited time at 50% off retail price.
