In 1926, on the founding of L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Francis Bodet became their principal trumpeter. During the winter of 1928-1929 a group of young singers was formed under Francis Bodet and René Kister (a writer and publisher), in order to present to a Geneva audience the works of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries. During this time, Bodet composed these 16 Virtuosic Studies after the works of Bach, during a fit of inspiration during their tour Performing the works of the great master.
When you play these you definitely hear the Bach influence. In one you will hear a cello suite, in another a Chaconne. Toccata and Fugues dance through the studies and each one is more virtuosic and technically demanding as the last. These are a delight to work through, and offer years of challenge for even the most advanced players.
