This brilliant jazz duet book for trumpet by Ben Paisner is written in a unique and interesting way. They are wonderfully written jazz duets to start with, that is to be expected, but they also have an amazing educational quality to them. Each duet is written in the style of a famous jazz tune and meant to imitate its structure in some way. One is written on a four bar riff offset by another one in the second part, commonly found in Jump Tunes. Another is written in the style of Tuxedo Junction, another imitates a New Orleans blues style. Each has its own groove to really pop, and teaches players how to play while being extremely entertaining.
