This is a wonderful two part collection of etudes by Italian composer Domenico Sambataro. Known as “Studi per tromba in Bb” or “Studies for Bb Trumpet” they are arranged as a collection of exercises in part one, growing progressively longer, until Part Two, which is full of etudes in a progressive and graduated layout.

The composer writes (translated) that “This is a serious and effective study book that is assembled as thoughtfully as possible. Progressive and perfectly graduated, all of the necessary material for the formation of a good musician is found within. The student finds in this method I present, a simple guide that begins with the first exercises for the formation of embouchure. Gradually, and in relatively short time, the player will grow precise and secure, able to hold the first parts in the orchestra with ease.”

Don't let the Italian intro put you off. You need no Italian to enjoy this study book, and by looking to the fantastic etude writing instead, you will be privy to a collection of works for trumpet seen by almost no one in North America.
