Along with the publication of Tabakov’s massive 4-part Progressive Trumpet Tutor, we are also releasing works by his most famous students. Chumov writes in the foreword from this great study book (translated here for the first time by Chris Fenje):
“In 1947, Serostanov graduated from the Moscow Conservatory (class of M. Tabakov). After graduation, he worked at the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre until 1956; from 1956 to 1962, he taught at the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory; between 1962 and 1978 he directed the brass band of the Moscow House of Pioneers.
Serostanov was an experienced and educated teacher, who successfully developed and applied original methods of teaching trumpet technique and actively participated in methodological meetings and seminars with reports on the topics “Protecting the health of students who are learning to play instruments” and “Forming Style in New Musicians.”
This is a collection of etudes for trumpet by K. Serostanov – in memory of a passionate trumpet player and a wonderful musician.”
