Blancheteau’s “Petite méthode de trompette d’harmonie simple” was originally published in 1863 during a pivotal time in the evolution of the trumpet. Similar to the Dauverne Method, the slide trumpet and keyed trumpet were gaining prominence, but composers will writing for the natural trumpet, albeit, in a more prominent role. It’s title translates to “Short method for fanfare trumpet with an outline of bugle calls for the cavalry trumpet player.”
This book is here to keep it from extinction. It was published in 1863 as a small folio, so it has been re-formatted to put two pages on each side of an 8.5 x 11 sheet to make it more usable today. I have cleaned it up painstakingly, but please note that it still have some speckles and character, considering its age this is about as clean as you can get it.
These books are a vital part of the history of the trumpet, and I am very proud to have them in the collection here at qPress. Check out some samples to the left then grab an immediate PDF download above.
