Lecail studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at Joseph Dupont ( Harmony ) and Hippolyte-Jean Duhem ( Trumpet ). Furthermore, he studied counterpoint with Hubert Ferdinand Kufferath. In addition to his work as a trumpet at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the year 1880-1881, he was also acting as trumpeter in the orchestra of the Royal Muntschouwburg , then led by Joseph Dupont.
His Concertino for Trumpet and Piano is an intermediate trumpet solo that is almost never heard. This fresh piece of trumpet literature is begging to be performed in lessons, recitals, and public performances. It is approachable yet challenging, and idiomatically written for our instrument, making it a great tool for stepping up into professional repertoire.
