Albin Frehse’s 36 Studies for Horn Parts 1 & 2, has been previously published under its German title “36 Etuden fur Waldhorn.”
This is my favourite type of publication. It has a clear goal and mission, and it successfully executes it expertly and efficiently. These two books are meant to compliment Kopprasch’s 60 Studies for Horn. Part 1 of this series is subtitled “22 Preliminary and Interim Studies for Kopprasch,” and Part 2 is subtitled “14 Works to Study After Kopprasch.”
Considering Kopprasch is studied by every single horn player in the world, it makes sense to write a prelude and follow up that will take players into and then beyond the Kopprasch world of etudes. These studies are creative and stylistically interesting, and give horn players a chance to augment their traditional study with something new.
This edition includes BOTH VOLUMES. I hate when publishers take a book, cut it in half, then charge you double. This edition gets you the entire book for one low price, just like it should be.
