This piece comprises a series of dance-like movements without using any of the traditional dance forms or patterns. It includes a four-part canon, in keeping with Baroque traditions combining counterpoint and dance.
This piece was written in 1994 for a group of students at Curtis, assembled by Jack Sutte, and first performed by them.
David Loeb (b.1939, New York) studied at the Mannes College and has taught there for many years. He has composed extensively for Asian instruments (especially Japanese) and for early instruments (especially viols) in addition to a large catalog of works for more conventional media.
