This book of Modern Syncopation was written with the intention of helping those students who have progressed in their studies to the extent that they could play “pops” music in an orchestra, band, or as a solo if it were not for the intricate syncopations that occur here and there in the rhythm.
There are not many distinctly different forms of modern syncopation and it is my contention that after the rhythm is either memorized or thoroughly understood so that it can be recognized when found in different melodies, popular music will no longer be difficult to read. These exercises will be found suitable for any melody instrument that plays in orchestras or bands.
