Johannes Melchior Gletle was the musical director of the Cathedral in Augsburg. After he had assumed hrs duties as church organist, Gletle was named musical director. In accordance with hrs obligations, he composed primarily sacred works, influenced by the southern German musical style, which had its source in Italy.
These fanfare style duets are a perfect compliment to the trumpet duo repertoire. Perfectly re-engraved and modernized, these duets are short, jammed full of wonderful harmonies and counterpoint, and are a really nice representation of duet writing in the 17th century.
