This fantastic book of progressive trombone etudes has always fascinated me. I searched high and low to find this book in the first place, then searched all over again to decipher who, in fact, was “A” Wagner. These technical, melodic, and virtuosic etudes are attributed to an author that only wrote one book for the instrument and his first name seems to be lost. This is a shame, but it is still a great feeling to get these studies back into circulation again. They are challenging, but progress at a pace that allows you to tackle new challenges in each study without overwhelming complications. These are at home in the studio, lessons, and masterclass performances and I hope to see these return to being staples of the trombone etude repertoire.
