J. Solomon’s 12 Studies for Trumpet was originally published in Germany under the title “12 [Zwölf] Etüden für Trompete”. This edition has had the preface translated and is written in both German and English (available in the samples pages to the left).

This book has always been a bit of a riddle for me. I have been looking for it for years based on the back cover of a few old German etudes books that advertised the Solomon Etudes, but I have never been able to get my hands on a copy in North America. I was able to track down a very very old copy to create this new edition. I am very glad it worked out. These etudes are challenging, yet very idiomatic, the type of studies that bust you up but also tell you that with some practice you will be able to get through them. A good study book is like a coach, cheering you on while pointing you in the right direction.
