Born on 16 October 1765 at Montb\u00e9liard in the east of France, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Duvernoy was a celebrated hornist with a long and varied career. Duvernoy held positions with Com\u00e9die Italienne, Concert Spirituel, Garde Nationale, Op\u00e9ra-Comique, Paris Op\u00e9ra, and\u00a0Chapelle Musique<\/em>. In 1795 he was appointed senior professor of horn at the Paris Conservatoire.<\/p>\n Duvernoy’s method is considered to be one of the most thorough ever created in explaining the 19th Century French school of horn playing.
