Jeremiah Clarke’s “Trumpet Voluntary” is a melody often attributed to Henry Purcell, but musicologists now tell us that it was never really composed by him. Jeremiah Clarke was a contemporary of Purcell’s, and is said to have originally issued the piece under the title, The Prince of Denmark’s March.
Including a forward with performance practice indications, this edition of Trumpet Voluntary for Trumpet and Piano is a must have in all collections. If you have students, have need for processional music for church or weddings, or are a collector of trumpet repertoire, this really is the most recognizable work in our whole literature.
