These 100 trumpet descants represent a collection of obligato melodies designed to be played during the singing of congregational hymns. Descants are typically used to embellish the final verse of a hymn, the trumpet adding the new melody as the congregation or choir sings.
These descants are published along with the corresponding hymn tunes, allowing trumpeters to introduce, play selected verses, and add descants to final verses of included hymns. These can be used as duets with one instrument on top the other on the tune as well.
