These Trumpet Dailies have been divided into six parts by authors David Gornston and Willard Musser, so that they are usable logically by the young brass player as well as by the advanced student or professional. There are more books in the series to come for other instruments so they can be performed in a classroom setting if so desired.
Part 1, divided into three groups, ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C ,’ presents a series of routines within the range of a Major 10th. This makes it possible for a brass student of perhaps six months playing experience to use the exercises for embouchure building and flexibility. The advanced student or professional will use Part 1 as preliminary embouchure and breath control ”dailies”. The exercises involve Harmonic, Chord, Diatonic and Chromatic passages.
Part 2, also divided into ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C ‘, extends the range to a 13th and starts a gradual extension of range which moves progressively through Parts IV, V and VI.
Unexpected enharmonic notations have been purposely used throughout for the development of eye, ear and muscular discipline. The Trumpet Dailies should be played at various tempi for the development of breath control, intonation and tonal quality.
