Paul De Ville’s “Eclipse Self Instructor For The Cornet” is a very rare trumpet method book from the turn of the 20th century. It was originally published by Carl Fisher and was part of a large series of methods written for each band instrument, all written by De Ville himself.
The book is very thoughtfully laid out with all reference material at the front of the book for quick reference later. Students are taken through long tones and articulation, basics of intervals, scales, melodies, duets, then finally three solos: Blue Bells of Scotland, The Minstrel Boy, and Nocturno, and Spring Song.
I have given 6 sample pages from throughout the book on the left, and you can grab an immediate PDF download above.
