The purpose of this grand method is to progress the student from the very beginning of instruction onto intermediate and advanced technique through the last section of the book.  It has full explanations of how the instrument works, how one transposes to and from each trumpet available, how to read rhythms, constructs scales, and how to play legato with phrasing and ornaments.
