Frank Simon was a renowned American cornetist in the early and mid 20th century. Simon studied with cornet greats such as Herman Bellstedt and was a member of the famous Sousa Band. Also a notable pedagogue, Simon founded the band and instrumental program at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Willow Echoes, published in 1920, was Simon’s go-to cornet solo, which he performed many times throughout his career. It is named after Willow Grove Park, home of the Sousa Band.
