Frank Simon was a renowned American cornetist in the early and mid 20th century. Simon studied with cornet greats such as Herman Bellstedt and was a member of the famous Sousa Band. Also a notable pedagogue, Simon founded the band and instrumental program at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
Willow Echoes, published in 1920, was Simon’s go-to cornet solo, which he performed many times throughout his career. It is named after Willow Grove Park, home of the Sousa Band. In this edition, the solo part has been adapted for Baritone in Bass Clef (or very bold Trombone players).
