In 12 years at qPress there has never been a book of music by Dmitry Shostakovich, so I am THRILLED to be able to release this collection today. Shostakovich combined a variety of different musical techniques in his works. His music is characterized by sharp contrasts, elements of the grotesque, and ambivalent tonality; he was also heavily influenced by neoclassicism and by the late Romanticism of Gustav Mahler.
Despite the title, I might not actually call this book “Easy.” There are definitely more intermediate solos here, which require some stamina, range to just above the staff, and a good sense of musicality. Having this set of solos in a trumpet studio situation would be invaluable. Below you can see the full list of songs that have been arranged for trumpet and piano. To the left you will find a representative sample, and above you can purchase an immediate digital download.
