“Sequential Studies, A Method for Gaining Proficiency in the Upper Register” is a method designed to gradually move you into the upper register through the practice of simple scale patterns.
Players are taught to:
- Drive your air at all times
- Play each exercise in all 12 keys
- Take your mouthpiece off your chops and rest at least four beats after each exercise
- If you get to a certain paint in an exercise and fizzle out, take the mouthpiece off your chops, rest a few minutes and then pick up from that point and continue on.
Through conscious diaphragm support you will learn to drive your air at all time and start connecting into the upper register with fluency, stability, and ease.
