Harold Rehig played 12 seasons in the Philadelphia Orchestra, and after a lifetime of study and professional experience, he penned this wonderful beginner method for the trumpet. His full foreword is available in the samples to the left and I encourage you to read it in full to get an idea of why he wrote this method. The main thrust, though, is that this book came out of necessity. Harold found himself repeating the same simple instructions over and over again and with the exception of one or two advanced methods on the market, there was nothing he could turn to as a safe and sane guide for the beginner to carry him through his first precarious year.

For anyone who teaches, you know exactly what this can be like. This method fills the gap admirably. My favourite part is that nearly all of the exercises and etudes include a second part for the teacher. You can play along in harmony to increase the scope of the practice, or you can play along in unison as a remedial action if the pupil is not fairing well. Options abound, and the quality of the instruction increases, it is as simple as that.

I highly recommend you grab a copy of this book for your studio. You can check out some samples to the left then grab an immediate PDF download above. You will be very glad you did.
