These arrangements of A Song With Trumpet and The Fifth Song With Trumpet by Henry Purcell are great additions to any program of any English music or music of Baroque style. The two solo parts can be accompanied by bassoon or cello (with included parts) or by realized continuo (also included).
The trumpet parts are in C and could be played on a C trumpet, but performers might enjoy the timbre and dexterity of a smaller instrument. An Eb or D would be perfect, although piccolo could work well too.
