Chopin’s dark, beautiful b-minor prelude is re-imagined as a lyrical tuba solo. Supported by trumpet and trombone, the tuba is given a rare opportunity to sing. This also provides a break for the trumpet player, always welcome in a trio setting.
This arrangement is part of a series created for the fogHorns brass trio using the unconventional combination of trumpet, trombone and tuba. Replacing the horn in a conventional trio with tuba adds depth and power to the group’s sound and allows for virtuosic interplay between the soprano and bass voices.
