Balay's Piece de Concours is a classic, seen on most jury lists, required repertoire lists, and conservatory exam schedules in all areas of the globe. Lots of opportunity for experimentation in the cadenza sections and beautiful french lyricism for the rest. Flashy but not too difficult. Definitely a piece every trumpet player performs as they are coming up through the ranks.
