Leopold Mozart’s Trumpet Concerto in D major was completed in 1762, and is has been extremely popular with trumpeters ever since. The work is in two movements: Largo and Allegro moderato. Originally written for solo trumpet in D and scored for two horns in D and strings, this edition is for solo D trumpet with piano reduction. The first movement is undoubtedly the most famous and provides room for a cadenza, while the second’s quick tempo and runs to high C give a brilliant finish to a challenging and satisfying piece.
