Here is the third of four Solo de Concours for trumpet and piano by H. Maury, who would eventually replace the great J.B. Arban as cornet professor at the Paris Conservatory.
Arban’s influence is obvious in the music, but Maury’s music is undeniably unique. This piece is perfect for recitals or competitions. Written for Bb trumpet, this piece does not ascend beyond written A above the staff and is technically approachable for intermediate players. This one is perfect for a student’s first concert solo.
