Herman Bellstedt was a beloved cornet soloist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to his fame as a soloist, he wrote countless wonderful solos for virtuosic cornetists.
This piece, Lucia, is a lovely polka for cornet. This edition has been arranged for solo cornet with the accompaniment of a full wind ensemble. Although this solo requires virtuosic technique, the range doesn’t go above a concert G above the staff (except for the optional high C at the end). This solo would be suitable for intermediate cornetists with multiple tonguing confidence.
