Goldman wrote his “Foundation to Cornet or Trumpet Playing” after years of struggling with young students who are unable to handle the complexity, range, and difficulty that comes within the first few pages of the Arban’s book. He felt that the need for something easier, that moves a bit more slowly, but eventually leads the player more comfortably into the hands of Arban, Balay, and Gatti was so strong that he penned this extensive elementary method. Please read his introduction in the sample pages to get an idea of where he is coming from. The material is as useful today as when it was written, with as much guidance for the teacher as there is for the student.
