This massive translation is the biggest project of its kind at qPress in the last five years. I am absolutely thrilled with the work that translator Chris Fenje did on this huge, two book set, and I guarantee you that once you dig into this method you will be blown away by the quality of the teaching and writing for our instrument.

Tomás Garcia Coronel, in this two-part method, aims to answer the question “what if a trumpet method was truly progressive?” Most grand methods, as you know, either get too hard, too fast, or they never address the real demands of modern artists. This is why Coronel wrote this method, and here is how he constructed it:

This work, having been developed in the three grades of music: elementary, intermediate, and advanced, will enable the student to accommodate their needs and desires in the certainty, as the work quickly demonstrates, that those who fully dedicate themselves to its study will be sure that, assuming the student is well versed in the fundamentals of solfege which is the foundation of any student who wishes to study an instrument or any variety of music, having carefully studied the first section of scales, exercises, and short preludes of which this Method is composed, will be fully capable of playing the secondary part in any musical band.

By studying the first part of this method, composed of the fifty progressive lessons, the student may certainly be trusted with the principal part in any band or orchestra no matter how delicate its requirements: opera or concerts.

And for the truly enthusiastic students who wish to acquire mastery of the instrument in its highest degree and overcome all the obstacles of a true virtuoso, the second part of this method is composed of fifty studies of great virtuosity, preceded by a series of scales, exercises, and preludes that cover the extent of the technical requirements of these studies, culminating in a series of interval exercises that have all the difficulties it is necessary to practice.

This method has been crafted with all the knowledge, practice, and conscience of one who has been teaching for thirty-four years. Of all the works mentioned in the curriculum of the major conservatories, the one that has given me the best results is The Practical Method for the Cornet.

What a joy it is to present this new translation to you. Please look at the copious samples to the left, then click above for an immediate digital download of both books in this set.
