Arden Allen's Orchestra Band Course for Trumpet was compiled for the express purpose of taking students gradually through the first or preparatory work so that rudiments will be learned, basic principles of technique are formed, and ensemble playing begin. All is gradual and started from the very beginning. It is possible to start group playing as soon as pupils learn to hold the instrument and make their first sounds.

All of the numbers in this book are marked as “unison”, “ensemble”, or “individual”, with the vast majority including multiple parts for teacher-student or student-student practice. Students learn to play in unison and harmony from the very beginning while systematically learning the rudiments of music and the trumpet.
