This new collection of studies by Wilhelm Wurm is divided into two books, and is a wonderful example of Russian melodic writing for brass.
For the uninitiated, Wilhelm Wurm was a celebrated cornetist and conductor. He was named professor of cornet playing at the Conservatory of St. Petersburg as well as the solo cornet in the Mariinsky Theater’s orchestra. During this time, Wurm met the legend Jean-Baptiste Arban. The two became very good friends and Arban dedicated one of his best pieces, “Caprice and Variations” to Wurm.
To the left you will find some samples you can play for free, and above you can purchase an immediate digital download. If you would like a deal, you can also find this book in Wurm’s Complete Collection if you would like to get them for 50% off retail price.
