Gallay’s 40 Preludes for horn or trumpet occupy an unusual place in the brass study repertoire. They are engaging and fun, challenging but approachable, and they are in such a unique style that I can’t possibly recommend them enough. Some are written with no measures, others are complete with da capos and lengthy expositions.
