Gallay’s 12 Studies op.57 is known as “12 Studies for 2nd Horn”. For me, I consider these perfect low studies for horn or trumpet players looking to solidify a strong and powerful low register while working on their phrasing, musicality, and technical prowess.

The magic of low playing, of course, is not to practice ONLY in the lowest register of the instrument. Instead, you should be flexibile enough to move in and out of the low register from anywhere on the horn with ease. And that is exactly what these studies are built for.
